Sunday, May 15, 2011 LAST DRIVING DAY!

It's Sunday and our last day on the road. This is day 8 of our trip and in some ways I feel all 8 days and in another way it seems like it has gone by so fast. I'm not sure what we'll do on Monday. Walk, sit, run? Things we couldn't do in the car? I know, Laundry, yes, Laundry with a capital "L". No washing for the last 8 days will necessitate doing laundry on Sunday night and Monday and folding the whole rest of the week.
Leaving Henderson, Nevada and traveling to Clayton, California was a long long long drive for the last day. Today was the day we spent more time with the DVD player. We're all a little "done" with this part of the journey; the luster has worn off. The electric toothbrushes have lost their charge; some have run out of clean socks (which they shouldn't have, I packed 8 pairs for all the children);we're down to the last clean burp cloth; Elizabeth's crayons are all broken; the cooler has taken a part-time job; no one really wants to sit by the person they were sitting by and liking just 5 minutes ago; Daddy is so tired of driving in the middle of nowhere; I'm tired of making the rounds, helping with work, making lunches in the car (but I did it anyway); Scott "forgot" to take a shower last night (and he's 13, no further questons); and it's Sunday, so a day of rest, right? 3,000 sq, ft of living space on 3 acres will seem incredible after this. California here we come!
