The Grand Canyon, what can I say, It's Grand! When Jeff and I visited this more than several years ago; you could drive your car all along the rim. Now you can only drive partially and the option to see all the look out points is only via shuttle. That is, we assume to ease traffic congestion. It would not be fun to spend most of your day looking for a parking place at each overlook! The shuttle enabled us to walk along the rim trail as well to the next stop where we could continue walking or catch the bus again. Once, we had a great driver who entertained us between stops. He pointed out the river once between stops and this little boy on the shuttle, exclaimed, "Mommy, I see it, I weally see it, the "wivah" is down there!!!" The bus driver said, "That is why I do this job; that young man makes me smile." That young man was Jackson. Another "Jackson" line: "When can we go to the Grand Canyon?" He asked this as we were leaving from our entire day spent there.
I carried the baby in a sling all day loosely covered in a blanket to prevent sunburn; she's too little for sunscreen. It was a great way to walk on the rim trail and get on and off the shuttle bus easier.
