Dress Like A Cow Night

Written by Sarah Kelly Rowe, age 12

Yesterday was free food at Chick Fil'A,if you dressed like a cow.
 We took this sign seriously, hey a little work equals FREE supper!
 So we begin.
 Everyone had a lot of fun painting old T- shirts for our cow costumes and
 the little ones loved making paper noses and ears, for us to wear.

 Daddy with his hilarious reputation dressed as the farmer with a milk pail and a empty gallon jug of milk  tied to his belt loop.

 Here we are ~ cows and all.

 While we are walking in, someone snaps a photo with their phone. Now that we are dressed up people really stare at us.  And of course Daddy is calling out:   "Time to get the milk" while jiggling his milking pail.
Sweet baby girl is cow-cute in her own small costume.

 After we order, Sarah Kelly and Abby, our neighbor who lives down the street, get straws, napkins and lots of ketchup for everyone

 Harris puts on a excited cow pose.

 This is how much it cost us for dinner:  FREE!  Unbelievable what it would have cost us!

Katharine enjoys the yummy chicken.

 After all the cow bellies are full we head back to our own neighborhood, looking forward to next year when we will do it again.

Moo!

Did we really dress like this to get free food?
Of course!  When you have a family as large as ours, who would turn down $40 worth of free chicken at our favorite fast-food place?  We never get kids' meals except this one time of the year when they are free, so it is a really special treat for the little ones because they can turn in the "prize" for ice cream.  I did, however, spend a few dollars to get the older ones some ice cream and a little bit of extra food for Scott; one complete meal doesn't quite satisfy him.  Still a great deal by anyone's standards and they had a fun time dressing up.

 We brought these 2 cowboys along to help with all the cows!
Tuckered out after a night as a cow-hand but ready to jump up with his gun at the first sign of a disturbance.

Lunch on the Road

I am running a restaurant out of my vehicle. When we're driving along and there's a lull in the activity; we've done some school work, we've done some fun word searches or map coloring or some other little activity, I'll decide it's lunch time. So I take orders. I literally write it down or there's no way I'll remember. Here it goes:
D: whole TTSCMu
S: 2 whole TTCMa
SK: TTCMa
D: 1 PBJB and 1 TTC
H: 1/2 PBJB
E: 1/2 TBma
J: TTCma
KE: "give me nee-nee"
M: 1 TTmu

Translation:
T= Turkey and Tortilla
C=Cheese
SC=Swiss Cheese
PBJ= Peanut Butter and Jelly
B=(on) Bread
Ma= Mayonaise
Mu=Mustard

Now do you see why I write it down? And as soon as I'm finished making and handing out, they're ready for the next course: carrots, pretzels, chips, apples, cookie.
